OMSC 2011 Arrive and Drive Karting Series

Mobil 1 Autoslalom Championship date set

November 5th 2010.
OMSC has confirmed its commitment to host Round 1 of the 2011 Mobil 1 Autoslalom Championship Series presented by Toyo Tires. Round 1 will be held May 7th 2011 and will again be a fast but technical course made out of Mosport's full Driver Development Track. The course design will be overseen by veteran autoslalom champion and long-time OMSC member Jeff Christie.
The entry form will be posted here in the coming weeks and will be available as a download.
Autoslalom is one the most affordable forms of motorsport and most cars that compete in auto-slalom events are unmodified street cars. The multiple class structure provides drivers with the ultimate challenge that anyone can win in whatever car. Driver skill and maintaining vehicle control has a lot to do with who completes the course in the shortest time.

Welcome to OMSC.CA!
The Oshawa Motor Sport Club (OMSC) was formed in 1959 by a group of auto enthusiasts from the Oshawa area. It has evolved with the times and has members interested in many forms of motor sports, including Road Racing, Autoslalom, Solo Sprint and Ice Racing. Excedpt for special events, members meet the first Tuesday of each month except January at the Whitby Yacht Club.
President's Welcome
Welcome to the on-line home of the Oshawa Motor Sport Club. OMSC is a proud Affiliated Member club of the Canadian Automobile Sports Club-Ontario Region (CASC-OR), the governing body of motorsport and FIA representative for the province of Ontario. OMSC is one of the largest, most active affiliated members of CASC-OR and runs all of its events according to the strict CASC-OR rules and operating guidelines.
OMSC members aren't just passionate motorsport fans, they are do-ers! And because of this, the Club is very active in hosting competition events, in various disciplines of motorsport, running track days and advanced driving schools and off-highway high speed driving experience events.
Club Background
In 1959 a group of car buffs formed a club for the pursuit of precision driving. The first meeting of this club had a mere handful of car enthusiasts present but their love of anything that furthered performance driving under controlled conditions has allowed the Oshawa Motor Sport Club to celebrate its 50th year.
The club has not changed much from its humble beginnings. OMSC is one of the largest and oldest clubs in the GTA. While other clubs have changed their constitution over the years to reflect the members they attracted, OMSC has stayed true to the spirit of its founders.
Our club has always focused on our members as families. We have tried to incorporate our events around past members that have moved on such as the 50th Anniversary Dinner we held last November, to the new families now getting involved. In fact it is not uncommon to see two and three generations at our meetings. OMSC has always been and will always be about the strength and experiences that our members bring to us. We very rarely advertise for new members and yet at every meeting we see a new face or three from word of mouth. Our annual membership has been as high as 300 in the golden years of amateur motorsport, but over the last five years it has remained strong at around the 100-125 mark. Some of the family oriented events include our famous lapping days, Summer family BBQ, Fall Corn Roast, December Awards Banquet, and our monthly meetings held the first Tuesday of the month, 7:30 pm at the Whitby Yacht Club.
The lapping days reflect our member's desires to drive their cars on a racetrack at elevated speeds with the goal of becoming better, safer drivers. Car control, not recklessness is what we strive for. Everyone is welcome to come out and watch or learn how to become a better driver. A roadworthy car, a helmet, and the desire to have fun is the only pre-requisite. Some of our members have also taken this fun lapping day exercise to the next level. OMSC member Ian Law runs the Ian Law Car Control School. Both he and his staff teach drivers young and old how to become safer, more confident drivers. OMSC and Ian have never subscribed to the "street racer" mentality. Perhaps that is why we have endured while others have come and gone. The Oshawa Motor Sport Club has always been a leader in the Canadian motor sports world. Drivers from our club have gone on to do very well in both the Canadian and American racing series. In fact, we have members involved in lapping, Regional Road Racing, Vintage Racing, SoloSprint, AutoSlalom, Rally, and Ice racing - something for everyone. It seems they just can't get enough motor sports. I invite you to come out to any event we host, or our next monthly meeting at the Whitby Yacht Club. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Thank you for your interest in what I consider to be the best group of people in motorsports.
Sincerely,
Join the Club
